Positive memories make Schrötter & Alcoba confident for the US Grand Prix in Austin

The dust from the race weekend at Termas de Rio Hondo hasn't even settled yet, but the focus is already turning towards Austin, Texas, where the Circuit of the Americas will set the stage for the fourth round of the 2022 World Championship from April 8th - 10th.

Both LIQUI MOLY Intact GP riders, Marcel Schrötter and Jeremy Alcoba, don't want to dwell on the past after difficulties in Argentina, but instead, want to reset everything and start all over again.

Even though Marcel Schrötter's twelfth-place finish in Argentina belied just how problem-ridden the last two Grand Prix have been, the experienced German is well aware that he needs to turn things around in Austin. Only six championship points separate the 29-year-old from being in the top 10 in the championship, but the gap out on track is far from small. He proved that he is able to do all too well on the physically demanding 5.5km Circuit of the Americas in 2019 with an impressive second place in the Moto2 race and hopes to be able to work out a consistent set-up as early as the first free practice sessions on Friday.

For only the second time in his World Championship career, young Spaniard Jeremy Alcoba is heading to the Lone Star State of Texas - home to one of the most distinctive circuits on the MotoGP calendar. A start from P3 on row 1, as well as sixth place on his first visit with Moto3 last year, is quite promising, especially as the 20-year-old is raving about COTA. According to his own statements, however, he wants to approach the Texas weekend with caution, because currently, even familiar tracks feel new to him on his Kalex.

How will the two protégés of the German racing team cope in Austin? We will know the answer on Friday afternoon when Moto2 opens the US Grand Prix with its FP1 at 16:00 (CEST). A rearranged schedule sees Moto2 opening the track action on all three days of the US event.
