Aegerter wants to learn from last year's Assen mistake & extend his Cup lead
MotoE's stop at the Dutch TT in Assen sees Dominique Aegerter of the German Dynavolt Intact GP team return to successful hunting grounds after claiming a Supersport double victory at the legendary 4.7km cult circuit just a few weeks ago.
Dominique Aegerter is undoubtedly the biggest favourite to win the 2022 MotoE Cup title, but even with a 29-point lead over his Brazilian rival Eric Granado, the 31-year-old Swiss rider is not resting on his laurels with a maximum of 150 points still up for grabs with six races remaining.
Points that his rivals are also keen on, because Matteo Ferrari is only just one point off Granado, who is currently in second place, which means that everything is still open for the outcome of the fiercely contested FIM Enel MotoE World Cup 2022. However, Aegerter, runner-up in the 2021 Cup, goes into the two rounds in the Netherlands with a clear advantage, as he only contested the Supersport World Championship round in Assen at the end of April and emerged victorious twice.
Meanwhile, the enthusiastic cyclist used the short MotoE break since Mugello for intensive training, but also to prepare himself mentally for the second half of the year, in which he wants to fight for the title in two racing series, as he did in 2021.
The tight MotoE schedule for Friday includes the first two free practices as well as qualifying, which starts at 16:50 with Q1. This will be followed by an 8-lap sprint race on Saturday (16:25) and Sunday (15:30).
