Aegerter: "The goal is the podium or even another win!"
For Dominique Aegerter of the Dynavolt Intact GP team, it's all about living up to his role as the favourite again this weekend at the Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, after he took a second place and a win at Le Mans a fortnight ago and thus taking over the Cup lead.
The Swiss natural has a run that not only makes his rivals in the Supersport World Championship green with envy, but also those in the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup. Dominique Aegerter leads both series, in both classes he fights for victories with playful ease. No wonder the 31-year-old strives for nothing less but the same success in the two six-round races in sunny Tuscany.
Eight points currently separate him from his closest rival Eric Granado in the championship. However, with an eight-point lead, he cannot rest on his laurels on a weekend where there are a total of 50 points up for grabs. The competition is strong, the races short and incredibly close.
The ambitious 2021 Supersport champion cannot rely on experience with the electric bike in the coming days, because the MotoE has never before buzzed through the hills of Mugello. However, the rider from Rohrbach knows the circuit itself very well thanks to his long career as a Grand Prix rider, so he hopes to put on a sensational show for the thousands and thousands of fans expected this weekend.
