Raffin finishes MotoE's first "Wet Race" in ninth place

The second event of the MotoE World Cup took place today at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg on a wet track. This was the first race meeting of the Energica Ego Corsa E-motorcycles under these conditions, when Jesko Raffin finished eigth for the Dynavolt Intact GP team and slipped to ninth after receiving a penalty.

The race of the MotoE class was meant to have six laps today. But after the weather in Spielberg did not show its best side in the morning, so that the decision was made to shorten the race to five laps. Therefore the Dynavolt Intact GP Team and Jesko Raffin did not have much time to get a good feeling with the bike and the Michelin-tyre under the given circumstances.

At first the team was happy about an eighth place and the collected championship points. But a few hours after the race Jesko Raffin was penalized with one position for overtaking under yellow flag.

Nevertheless the team was satisfied with the important setup-work done this weekend. In dry conditions Jesko Raffin already showed that he can be fast. The E-Pole session went without problems yesterday. He was able to improve during the wet race today too and he takes the impressions with him to the Riviera di Rimini, where the third round of the new series will take place on the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, from 13th to 15th of September. It will be the first time that two races will be hold on one weekend.
