TT Assen: Two important racing weekends ahead

Before heading to the home race at the Sachsenring circuit, the Dynavolt Intact GP riders Tom Lüthi and Marcel Schrötter compete at the „cathedral of speed“ this weekend - the TT circuit in Assen, Netherlands.

It is a traditional course and a bedrock on the current MotoGP-calendar. The TT Circuit is the only track never missing a Grand Prix since the beginning of the GP series of motorcycle world championship in 1949.

The current layout is being used since 2006 with small modifications. The 4.5 km long racetrack with its six left and twelve right corners and the almost 500 meters long straight is amongst the favourites of Marcel Schrötter and Tom Lüthi.

Tom Lüthi achieved his fourth podium finish of the season two weeks ago in Barcelona. This meant it was his 49th podium place in the Moto2 class. He will try to achieve the milestone of 50 podium finishes as first rider of the category in Assen. His closest competitor is Tito Rabat with 39 podiums.

Of course the main goal of the Swiss is to minimize the gap of seven points that he still has from his second place to the championship leader Alex Marquez, if not turn the tables. The chances are high for the Intact GP rider, who already climbed three times on the rostrum at the Dutch TT - 2008 in 250cc and 2010 and 2017 in Moto2.

There are only 38 points between the first five riders in the Moto2 championship standings. This is the smallest gap between the Top five of the Moto2 after the first seven races since the year 2008. Marcel Schrötter is one of them in fifth position and still has all chances to join in the battle for the championship.

Last year the Bavarian crossed the Dutch finish line in fourth position. He is highly motivated after a very positive final test in Barcelona to return to the podium hunt before his home race.
