Pini seventh after strong Assen qualifying, Muñoz starts from P14

In the dramatic finale of the tenth qualifying session of the season, the LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team experienced a rollercoaster of emotions: Guido Pini, who suffered a crash while lying in fifth place, finished Q2 in seventh place on row 3. David Muñoz, who was in eighth place until shortly before the end, was pushed back to 14th place on the grid in row five in the final seconds.

Guido Pini, an up-and-coming talent in the Moto3 World Championship at the age of 17, made a convincing start to the Dutch Grand Prix on Friday morning in wet conditions with a seventh place in FP1. In practice, Pini secured 13th place, just 0.651 seconds behind the leader, and thus a direct entry into Q2. In the qualifying session, the rookie was among the top ranks right from the start. However, in an attempt to improve on fifth place, the rider with the number 94 crashed, fortunately remained uninjured and is confident going into Sunday's 20-lap race with strong pace.

Intact GP team-mate David Muñoz also impressed from Friday onwards on the Dutch track. He placed second in qualifying with a strong lap of 1:40.262, showing serious potential. The 19-year-old Spaniard remained solid in Q2 on Saturday, but was not quite able to match his performance from the previous day. His lap times placed him in the midfield, so that he was in eighth place shortly before the end of the session, until the final time attacks of the competition dropped him back to 14th place on the grid. Nevertheless, Muñoz remains optimistic and is convinced that he will be able to call on his strong pace in the race on Sunday at 11:00 am.

"I am very happy and I think that the whole team is also very happy with what we have achieved today. As always, I tried to give my best, but we knew that we are very fast at this track. So, I tried to set the lap time by my own. I had a reference in front of me, but it was too far away for me to get into the slipstream. Anyway, I think we set a good lap time and tomorrow we'll start on the third row. So that means we are already there in the pack at the front. I hope we have a good start and then we can enjoy the race. Thanks to everyone for their help and work."

"It wasn't the easiest day for us. Free practice this morning was already difficult because there was a small problem with the bike. Nevertheless, we remained confidence for qualifying. I tried to do a fast lap a few times, but it wasnt meant to be. Anyway, we will do our best in the race tomorrow to get a good result. But first I want to thank the whole team for their hard work."

Pini Siebter nach starkem Assen-Qualifying, Muñoz startet von P14

Im dramatischen Finale des zehnten Saison-Qualifyings erlebte das LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP-Team eine Achterbahn der Gefühle: Guido Pini, der auf dem fünften Platz liegend einen Sturz erlitt, beendete das Q2 als Siebter in Reihe 3. David Muñoz, der bis kurz vor Schluss auf dem achten Platz lag, wurde in den letzten Sekunden auf den 14. Startplatz in Reihe fünf zurückgedrängt.

Guido Pini, mit seinen 17 Jahren ein aufstrebendes Talent der Moto3-WM, startete am Freitagmorgen unter nassen Bedingungen mit einem siebten Platz im FP1 überzeugend in den Dutch Grand Prix. Im Zeittraining sicherte sich Pini mit nur 0,651 Sekunden Rückstand auf die Spitze den 13. Platz und damit den direkten Q2-Einzug. In der Qualifying-Session war der Rookie von Anfang an in den oberen Rängen vertreten. Beim Versuch, den fünften Platz weiter zu verbessern, stürzte der Fahrer mit der Startnummer 94 jedoch, blieb zum Glück unverletzt und geht mit starker Pace zuversichtlich ins Sonntagsrennen, welches 20 Runden umfassen wird.

Auch Intact GP-Teamkollege David Muñoz überzeugte von Freitag an auf der niederländischen Strecke. Im Zeittraining platzierte er sich mit einer starken Runde von 1:40.262 auf dem zweiten Platz und zeigte damit ernstzunehmendes Potenzial. Am Samstag im Q2 blieb der 19-jährige Spanier solide, konnte aber nicht ganz an seine Leistungen vom Vortag anknüpfen. Seine Rundenzeiten platzierten ihn im Mittelfeld, sodass er kurz vor Ende der Session auf dem achten Platz lag, bis ihn die letzten Zeitattacken der Konkurrenz auf den 14. Startplatz zurückwarfen. Muñoz bleibt dennoch optimistisch und ist überzeugt, seine starke Pace im Rennen am Sonntag um 11:00 Uhr abrufen zu können.

"Ich bin sehr glücklich, und ich denke, dass auch das gesamte Team ist sehr zufrieden mit dem, was wir heute erreicht haben. Wie immer habe ich versucht, mein Bestes zu geben, aber wir wussten, dass wir auf dieser Strecke sehr schnell sind. Also habe ich versucht, meine Rundenzeit alleine zu fahren. Ich hatte zwar eine Referenz vor mir, aber zu weit weg, um in den Windschatten zu kommen. Jedenfalls denke ich, dass wir eine gute Rundenzeit gefahren sind, und morgen starten wir als Erste in der dritten Reihe. Das heißt also, dass wir schon vorne mit dabei sind. Ich hoffe, dass wir einen guten Start haben und dann das Rennen genießen können. Danke an alle für ihre Hilfe und Arbeit."

"Es war nicht der einfachste Tag für uns. Das freie Training heute Morgen war schon schwierig, weil es ein kleines Problem mit dem Motorrad gab. Dennoch sind wir zuversichtlich in das Qualifying gegangen. Ich habe ein paar Mal versucht, eine schnelle Runde zu fahren, aber es hat nicht sein sollen. So oder so werde ich morgen im Rennen mein Bestes geben, um ein gutes Resultat zu erzielen. Aber zuerst möchte ich dem gesamten Team für seine harte Arbeit danken."
