Agius & Gonzalez remain combative

The LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team's Moto2 squad faced unexpected challenges in the qualifying for the Aragon Grand Prix. World championship leader Manuel Gonzalez crashed early and will have to start the race from 18th on the grid. Team-mate Senna Agius secured 13th place on the grid in row five for the eighth race of the season.

Unfortunately, Manuel Gonzalez's qualifying session ended quicker than he wanted: On his very first timed lap, the 22-year-old crashed in front of his home crowd at turn 5. In the end, there was not enough time to get the bike back in the box in order to try to return on the track, making the upcoming race his biggest challenge of the season so far. Gonzalez impressed with the best time on Friday in particular and, after finishing first in qualifying, was also the favourite going into qualifying. This self-confidence will give him strength on Sunday before the start of the race at 12:15 p.m. and give him confidence - even if he has a lot of work ahead of him from 18th on the grid.

Team-mate Senna Agius put in another solid performance in Aragon, Spain, after his brilliant race at the Silversone Grand Prix. The 19-year-old Australian was consistently in the top 10 on Friday, securing his ticket for Q2. In the exciting 15-minute qualifying session, he lost a few places in the final metres due to many attacks from his competitors and ultimately finished in 13th place. Agius will tackle his eighth race of the season with maximum motivation from the fifth row of the grid.
