Exciting MotoE sprint races in prospect for Baldassarri & Garzo
In qualifying for the second MotoE round of the season in Assen, Netherlands, Dynavolt Intact GP team-mates Lorenzo Baldassarri and Hector Garzo secured grid positions on rows three and four. This means that they will face two demanding sprint races on Saturday, in which they will give their all to get the best out of the race and collect important points for the championship.
Italian Lorenzo Baldassarri made a promising start to the race weekend: He rode to third place in the wet first practice session, showing his ambitions early on. On a dry track, the 28-year-old then finished eighth in qualifying, which allowed him to go straight through to Q2. In the afternoon, Baldassarri, who uses starting number 7, struggled to find a consistent rhythm and searched for more grip. In the end, he had to settle for eighth place in Q2. "Balda" will start the two 7-lap races on Saturday at 12:15 and 16:10 from the third row of the grid. The 2022 Supersport World Championship runner-up knows that there is still a lot of work ahead of him, but is confident that he will get the maximum out of himself and his Ducati V21L.
The first day after his Le Mans injury was challenging for reigning MotoE World Champion Hector Garzo: The Spaniard continued to struggle with discomfort in his arm, but gritted his teeth and gave his all in all three sessions. In the wet Friday practice session, the 27-year-old put in a strong fourth-fastest performance on the 5.54-kilometre TT Circuit in Assen, which is known for its fast sections. In qualifying, the ambitious Spaniard placed seventh to qualify directly for Q2, where he finished tenth in the afternoon in better conditions with a 1'41.399. For the two races on Saturday, Garzo will do everything in his power to prepare optimally in order to maximise his season debut in terms of points.
