Tradition meets top form: Intact GP with tailwind towards the Brno comeback
Brno celebrates its World Championship comeback after a four year break and the LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP could not be happier to start the next points chase in front of another large fan base after Muñoz' second victory and strong points from Guido Pini, Manuel Gonzalez & Senna Agius at the Sachsenring.
After a four-year break, the Motorcycle World Championship returns to the Masaryk Ring in Brno next weekend: The traditional Czech circuit was not only an all-time classic on the calendar, but also a true pilgrimage site for motorsport fans from Germany and all over Europe. Following comprehensive resurfacing and extensive modernisation measures, fans and teams can expect a modern Automotodrom that continues to thrill with its flowing 5.4-kilometre layout through the picturesque hills of the South Moravian region - famous for challenging corners, elevation changes and good overtaking opportunities that have captivated generations of riders and fans alike.
At the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring a week ago, David Muñoz secured a spectacular home victory for his German racing team to thunderous applause from the fans - his second win of the season and the second Grand Prix victory of his career. Team-mate Guido Pini impressed with a solid performance and finished in a respectable seventh place. Muñoz, already fifth in the overall standings, is turning into one of the most competitive riders in the field after some initial ups and downs and although both, he and 17-year-old Pini, have no experience in Brno, they are very much looking forward to their debut on the ever-popular race track.
In the Moto2 class, the team is fielding an ambitious duo in Manuel Gonzalez and Senna Agius. At their teams home race at the Sachsenring, both collected important points on the difficult circuit and consolidated their position in the fiercely contested world championship. Gonzalez, who has already finished on the podium several times since the start of the season, remains at the top of the world championship standings. The 20-year-old Australian Senna Agius recently impressed with his debut victory at Silverstone and other top results, which secured him a contract extension with the Intact GP team. For his part, Agius tested the new tarmac at the Automotodrom Brno just a few weeks ago during a private training ride. And even though Gonazlez's last ride on the Czech track in 2018 was some time ago, the return to Brno offers both of them the opportunity to make another sporting statement on the iconic course.
