Muñoz with spectacular chase to the podium, Pini scores from pole position

The LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team once again proved its strength and racing tenacity at the Grand Prix in Brno, Czech Republic. For David Muñoz, the 12th Moto3 race became the big stage: After being relegated to the back of the grid, the 19-year-old Spaniard started from 23rd on the grid - and really fired the turbo all the way to the podium. Guido Pini finished 10th after his first pole start.

On the very first lap, David Muñoz made up an incredible eleven places and ploughed through the field of riders in front of tens of thousands of enthusiastic fans along the traditional 5.4-kilometre circuit. The 19-year-old caught up with the leading group early on - only Jose Antonio Rueda was able to pull away from the front as the race progressed. Behind them, a fierce six-way battle developed for the remaining podium places. On the final lap, the Spaniard switched into attack mode once again, overtook several times and turned into the final bend as the leader of the chasing pack. In the final metres, however, compatriot Maximo Quelles snatched second place in the slipstream - Muñoz was nevertheless delighted with a sensational podium on his Brno comeback on new terrain. With 16 more championship points, he consolidated fifth place in the overall standings before the summer break and is optimistic about the upcoming race at the Red Bull Ring on 15th-17 August.

Team-mate Guido Pini also showed strong nerves in the heat of battle in Brno: starting from pole position for the first time in a world championship race, the 17-year-old Italian performed confidently in the 16-lap race despite the challenges. He initially lost two positions after the start, but remained consistently in the top 10 - a strong sign from the rookie. With tenth place, he scored world championship points for the sixth time this season and climbed to 14th position in the world rankings.

After this strong team result in Brno, both Intact GP riders have earned themselves a short break before the second half of the season starts in Spielberg in mid-August - and is guaranteed to be just as exciting.

"I'm very happy with this result, because it's important to go into holidays with a good feeling. But I'm also happy for the team with third place. Yesterday, in qualifying, I had a good feeling with the bike, but we had to start from the back of the grid. Today the feeling was also good, but due to the penalty it was not possible to push further forward and close the gap to Rueda. Nevertheless, we have to be satisfied despite these circumstances, especially with the good work we did again as a team. We have to continue like this after the summer break. I think it was above all a tactically clever ride, because it was also important to manage the tyres well when coming from the very back. In addition, the new surface is very aggressive for the tyres. But I'm glad that I was able to complete my race as we had planned. Many thanks to the whole team. See you again in Austria"

"Today, we started from pole position, which was an indescribable feeling for me. But after a few laps, I realized that I didn't feel so comfortable on the brakes. So, I was easily overtaken by a few riders and the leading group immediately opened a gap. It was really difficult to catch up with them again until the end. So, I consolidated my position in the second group, and I just tried to do my best at all times. In the end, we finished in P10. Nevertheless, it was a good weekend for us, especially because of our first pole position, even if the race wasn't that amazing. But we can take some positive points with us and still have more races ahead of us to further improve. However, first of all, I'm looking forward to tomorrow's test to ride at this beautiful track again."

"It was nice to return to Brno after five years. A lot has happened in the Moto3 class in that time, so that the track was new territory for most of the riders. This also applied to our two riders. Although they hardly knew the track, both made a strong start to the weekend. With Guido in fourth and David in sixth, both qualified directly for Q2. Saturday was a special highlight for our team. Guido stormed to pole position for the first time in his career and David rounded off the spectacle with a strong third place. Unfortunately, he received a penalty on Friday and had to start today's race from last spot on the grid. But we knew that he could also do a good race from this starting position. He proved that very impressively. After the first lap he was already in 15th place and then quickly caught up with the leading group. From then on, he was always fighting for a podium finish. His last lap was particularly strong, in which he worked his way up from P5 to second place. Unfortunately, he lost this position on the last meters to the line. But in the end, it was enough for apodium, which was very important for him after a not so easy weekend."

"On the other hand, it was very exciting for Guido to start the race from pole position. Tenth place at the line is certainly not what he expected of himself, but it simply shows the very high level of the world championship. If little things don't quite come together, you can easily end up in tenth place. Nevertheless, his performance cannot be overestimated, because in the second group he was in, some riders were setting the same lap times as the leaders. Guido was one of them. The race weekend is over, but we still have time until Tuesday, when we will take the opportunity to work on a few things with him during a test. This is also the only opportunity this year where we can make adjustments to the riding style and set-up. Before that, a big thank you to the whole team and I wish everyone a nice summer break after the test so that we can all come back well rested for our second home race in Spielberg."
