Baldassarri shines in Barcelona with second place on the grid, Garzo in P10

Lorenzo Baldassarri from the Dynavolt Intact GP team got off to an impressive start on an intense day of practice in Barcelona. Finishing with a superb second place in qualifying, the Italian secured a position on the front row of the grid for the fifth race weekend of the 2025 MotoE season. Teammate Hector Garzo fought his way forward from Q1, but ultimately had to settle for tenth place on the fourth row of the grid.

With its fast, flowing layout, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is one of the most popular racetracks in the world. Lorenzo Baldassarri found his rhythm here right from the start. The MotoE rookie improved steadily: from a 1:48.975 in FP1 to a 1:48.173 in practice, which earned him eighth place and a spot in Q2. There, the 28-year-old kicked into turbo mode: with a 1'47.679, he set the second-fastest time and secured another front row start. On Saturday, the rider with the number 7 will be aiming for his first MotoE victory in the two sprint races.

However, the day did not go as smoothly for local hero Hector Garzo. The reigning world champion missed out on a direct entry into Q2, finishing eleventh in qualifying. Although he set the fastest time in Q1 with a 1:48.027, he then suffered some bad luck when several yellow flags cost him valuable minutes. Additionally, the short charging time between Q1 and Q2 was too short, which meant he was unable to make a final attack. Despite everything, Garzo is looking forward to Saturday's races with confidence. Starting from tenth place on the fourth row, the Spaniard will be fully focused on attacking at 12:10 and 16:10 (local time) in oder to give his home fans a reason to celebrate.
