Positive performances from LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP at Jerez test

Both Moto2™ riders from the Memmingen-based racing team, Manuel Gonzalez and Senna Agius, have completed their preparations for the season over the last two days with good results.

The Autódromo do Algarve, not far from the Portuguese port city of Portimao, and the famous Circuito de Jerez in southern Spain were the venues for the LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Moto2™ team's preparations for the season. On Monday and Tuesday, teams and riders enjoyed ideal conditions in Jerez.

2025 vice world champion, Manuel Gonzalez, was in impressive form right from the start of the final test before the opening round. The 23-year-old rider from Madrid finished the first day as the fastest rider after posting a fabulous lap time - he beat his own pole position time from last year by 0.8 seconds. On Tuesday, Gonzalez suffered a crash. Fortunately, he was uninjured, but the incident had a slight impact on the rest of his day. He finished tenth in the day's standings and fifth in the combined practice times for both days, just less than 0.3 seconds off the fastest time of the test.

Team mate Senna Agius arrived in Europe straight from the Australian summer. Nevertheless, the 20-year-old rider from Liverpool in New South Wales quickly regained his speed. After two intensive days of testing, he finished eleventh in the timesheets, just 0.6 seconds off the fastest time.

The 2026 FIM Moto2™ World Championship kicks off in just over a week with the Grand Prix of Thailand at Buriram’s Chang International Circuit.

«It was a really positive test for us because we tried out a lot of components. But we also had some ideas within the team that led to a few improvements. Yesterday was a much better day in terms of the feeling with the bike, whereas today I struggled a bit more, including a crash in turn three. Because of a new leather suit, I had problems moving more freely on the bike later on. That was another new experience, and I am glad it happened during the test. Overall, I am happy with everything, even though we did not go for a time attack today what I would have liked to do. The crash was a bit of a shame, though, as it happened just when I wanted to push harder and improve on yesterday's lap time. But that is not a big problem, because we had a really strong pace and did almost every lap in 1'39, which is incredible. So, the bike is working well, and the team is doing a great job. I would say we are more than ready for Thailand.»

«Our second test this year went very well. We completed many laps and gathered a lot of information. However, I am currently facing some new challenges both on and off the track. I have been trying to get used to these changes, and getting back into the Moto2 feeling after the winter break is always a little different. But we made good progress and the lap times were super-fast on both days, mainly thanks to the good conditions. We still have a few things to improve for Thailand. We are well prepared, but in Thailand the conditions and situation will be completely different due to the heat and other factors. However, I think we are at a good level.»

«After the difficult conditions in Portimao, we were very pleased with the good weather in Jerez. This allowed us to concentrate fully on our test tasks. We are very satisfied with the progress made by our two riders. The same applies to the new material. I think both riders are very competitive. The last two days were very important for us, as we were able to clarify a few things. Unfortunately, Manu had a crash in the best time window, which is why the result may not look so good. But his performance is much more impressive. Senna tried out a lot of things. That was also the goal: to focus on testing and not just on a fast lap. That is why I think his result is all the better. I think we are well prepared on both sides of our pit and are very confident going into the start of the season. We are already looking forward to Thailand.»
