First 2025 MotoE test in Barcelona: Strong debut for Baldassarri - setback for World Champion Garzo

The Dynavolt Intact GP Team kicked off the 2025 season last week with a three-day official MotoE test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. While newcomer Lorenzo Baldassarri celebrated a solid debut, World Champion Hector Garzo experienced an unfortunate start to the test and had to withdraw due to injury after an early crash.

Lorenzo Baldassarri, who was riding his MotoE bike for the first time, finished the three-day test with a best time of 1:48.181. The Italian not only had to get used to his new all-electric Ducati V21L, but also to the entire format of the MotoE category. The significantly shorter training sessions, the qualifying format, the start procedure without a warm-up lap and the short, intense races represent a completely different approach compared to the classes in which the Italian has competed so far. Despite these many new impressions, the 28-year-old quickly found a good rhythm and was able to gain valuable experience for the start of the season in Le Mans in May.

The start for Hector Garzo was less pleasing: The reigning MotoE World Champion crashed on the first lap of the first day of testing and suffered painful oedema of the trapezium bone in his left thumb. The 26-year-old Spaniard went to the IMED Hospital in Valencia for further clarification and treatment, where fortunately a fracture was ruled out - Garzo will only have to take a short break before he can tackle his title defence.

The World Champion team is now turning its attention to the MotoE season opener on 9th to 10th May in Le Mans - with an additional test day on Thursday, where both riders can go out on track together for the first time and make further progress.
