Agius storms into front row – Gonzalez launches final title attack from row 2
With a strong third place in Moto2 qualifying at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Senna Agius secured a front row starting position for the season finale in Valencia. Close behind him is LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP teammate Manuel Gonzalez, who will start Sunday's race from fifth place and launch his final attack in the 2025 season title fight from there.
The final race of the year is on the agenda for the German racing team – and for Senna Agius, it's a chance to finish his season with a strong result. The 20-year-old Australian improved from 15th place in FP1 to 6th in practice, putting him straight into Q2. The two-time Moto2 race winner clearly felt comfortable on his Kalex as he entered the decisive 15-minute qualifying session. With third place on the front row and a convincing race pace, Agius is well prepared for the 22-lap race. His goal: to end his second full World Championship season with the German team on a high note.
When the lights go out for the Moto2 race at 12:15 p.m. (CET) on Sunday, Manuel Gonzalez will have 22 laps to turn the tables in the World Championship standings once again. After dominating for much of the season, the Spaniard recently lost the lead in the standings to Diogo Moreira, who has a 24-point advantage ahead of the decisive showdown in Valencia. Even though it will take a minor miracle, Gonzalez is confident in his riding skills – and in the unpredictability of a final race. His speed is beyond question: the Kalex rider finished second in FP1 and tenth in practice, securing his place in Q2. On Saturday morning, the 23-year-old followed up with fourth place in FP2. Starting from fifth on the grid, the Spaniard is in a good position to make his World Championship dream come true after all.
