LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP: Double top 10 - Pini with best result of the season, Muñoz solid eighth

In a turbulent Grand Prix in Barcelona, LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP teammates Guido Pini and David Muñoz were among the frontrunners throughout the entire race. After 18 nerve-wracking laps, rookie Pini achieved his best result of the season so far with a strong sixth place, while local hero Muñoz scored important points in front of his home crowd with eighth place.

Even before the 15th race of the season on the 4.657 km Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a thrilling slipstream battle was expected – and that's exactly what the fans were served. Starting from eighth on the grid, Guido Pini immediately made up two positions and established himself in the leading group, which was closely bunched together right up to the finish line. At one point, the 17-year-old received a track limits warning, which put him under additional pressure. But even in the intense slipstream battle for position, he kept his nerves and secured a strong sixth place. This means he takes ten important World Championship points and his best career result to date to the upcoming home race in Misano, where he will be looking to attack again in a week's time.

For David Muñoz, currently fourth in the World Championship standings, the home race was also a real thriller. In front of tens of thousands of fans, the 19-year-old stormed to the front from fourth on the grid, at times lying in second place and impressing with bold attacks. But the relentless slipstreaming took its toll on his strength and concentration. Several times, the Spaniard had to give up places and fight his way back. In the end, he was just a fraction short, so he had to settle for eighth place after a gruelling race. Eight more World Championship points keep him stable in fourth place overall before the 16th race of the season continues in San Marino from 12th to 14th September.

"I lacked a bit of feeling for the bike. That's why it was a difficult race for me. But I pushed a lot in the final laps. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough because the front tyre was gone completely and for this the front folded several times. I'm glad that I didn't crash. I'm also happy with the work we've done this weekend, because it will help us next week in Misano. I'm happy that it's straight on to the next race and the next opportunity for us to go out for more. Many thanks to the team, we'll see us again soon and we'll carry on like this."

"I'm very happy with P6, our best result so far this year. However, the race was really difficult because of the large group. It's not easy to ride in such a big group, because you can easily make a mistake and immediately drop back a few places. However, on the last lap I tried to overtake as many people as possible and got up to sixth place, which is really good. Now we go to Misano, where I know the track well and also like it a lot. I think we are ready to have a good race there too. Finally, I would like to thank the team, who have done a great job as always."

"Both our riders got off to a very good start to the weekend. David took second place in both Friday sessions. But Guido also showed a very strong performance in Practice, ending up in fourth place. This meant that both made it through Q2 without any problems, where they confirmed their competitiveness with grid positions four and eight. These starting positions raised high hopes for the race. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan for David, who finished eighth. He suffered problems with the front tyre and also lacked a bit of top speed. Under these circumstances, we have to be happy that he achieved this result after being in danger of crashing several times. Respect for his efforts, which were rewarded with eight important points for the championship. Guido also did a very good job and achieved his best result so far in the World Championship with his sixth place. We can be very satisfied with that. Next week we will continue in Misano, where we want to be right at the front again with both riders."
