Moto3 power duo ready for the Indonesian Grand Prix: Muñoz back in row 1 in P2, Pini in P10
With David Muñoz in second and Guido Pini in tenth place on the grid, both LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP teammates are well prepared for Sunday's Indonesian Grand Prix after an exciting qualifying 2 in Mandalika.
David Muñoz is currently in impressive form. After his third win of the season in Japan a week ago, the Spaniard is continuing his momentum in Indonesia: as the fastest rider in FP1 and fifth in practice, he secured his spot in Q2. On the 4.3 km track on the picturesque island of Lombok, the current fourth-placed rider in the World Championship underlined that he is one of the top favourites in the demanding subtropical conditions with yet another second place in FP2. In qualifying, Muñoz narrowly missed out on pole position, finishing just 0.099 seconds behind – securing him the front row of the grid.
Finding your rhythm quickly on a completely new track is a challenge even for experienced riders – which makes Moto3 rookie Guido Pini's performance on his first overseas tour all the more impressive. The 17-year-old Italian worked his way forward step by step with his KTM: from 20th place in the first free practice session to 16th place in Q1. There, the youngster put in a strong performance to finish fourth and confidently advanced to Q2, where he confirmed his form with 10th place on the grid. With a fourth row start, Pini has a solid starting position for Sunday's 20-lap race at 12:00 local time (06:00 CEST) – bring on the heat battle in Indonesia.
