"Krummi" starts from row 1 in the Mugello double sprint, Garzo in row 3

In high summer temperatures, the DYNAVOLT INTACT GP MotoE team around Randy Krummenacher and birthday boy Hector Garzo placed third and ninth on the grid after a busy day and successful practice sessions.

Amidst the Tuscan hills, it got quiet four times on this sunny Friday of the Italian Grand Prix, but quiet certainly doesn't mean boring, as the 18 MotoE riders battled it out in two practice sessions to qualify directly for Q2. The DYNAVOLT INTACT GP MotoE team's starters also mastered the direct entry thanks to the fourth place from Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher and fifth place from 25-year-old Hector Garzo.

In the 10-minute Q2 shootout, Randy Krummenacher originally took fourth place. But an imposed penalty on Eric Granado catapulted the 33-year-old to P3 and so, as hoped, he starts from the front row on tomorrow's race Saturday. Only 0.591s separate the experienced MotoE rookie from pole setter Matteo Ferrari, who will start just a few metres further next to him.

On the side of the Spaniard, Hector Garzo, Qualifying 2 did not bring the hoped-for top grid position. Own mistakes and crashes by fellow competitors led to cancelled laps and so he eventually ran out of time. But even from ninth position on row three, he, like his Swiss team-mate, has every chance of scoring high points in the two sprint races on Saturday. Race 1 kicks off the points chase on this second race weekend of the 2023 MotoE World Championship at 12:15 (CEST). Sprint number two will then follow at 16:10 (CEST) and will also comprise seven sweaty laps.
