Off to the LIQUI MOLY Festival at the Sachsenring

The German Motorcycle Grand Prix at the legendary Sachsenring is one of the most important of this year's 20 race weekends for the LIQUI MOLY Intact GP team, as the team's title sponsor is title sponsor of Germany's biggest motorsport event for the second year in a row.

Meanwhile, the weather forecasts look just as promising as the ticket sales figures for the tenth round of the 2022 season, at which fans are permitted again for the first time, after the race had to be run in front of empty stands in 2021 and the traditional race on the 3.7 km Sachsenring near Chemnitz was cancelled altogether in 2020.

Not only the fans are looking forward to the return to the 'Ring', but also Marcel Schrötter, who wants to improve on his strong Top 5 result from Barcelona two weeks ago. The German is aware of the increased pressure in front of his home crowd, but the 29-year-old can't wait to get to work with his crew from Friday in order to be right up front in Sunday's energy-sapping 28-lap race. After P6 last year, will the Bavarian be able to repeat his 2019 podium in front of a full house in Saxony?

And even if the Sachsenring, with its unusual counter-clockwise course and ten left-hand and three right-hand corners, is not one of the most practiced race tracks in the repertoire of 20-year-old Spaniard Jeremy Alcoba, the Moto2 rookie looks back on a strong fourth place in the 2021 Moto3 race. Back then, only +0.206s separated him from the winner, so the equally highly motivated youngster is hoping to deliver a strong performance in Moto2 this year as well.

But before the two LIQUI MOLY Intact GP Team riders can really get going on Sunday at 12:20 p.m., passionate fans on site will have three chances to get autographs and selfies with the German racing team's riders.
