Ready for Aragón - The season's second half picks up speed
After two extended breaks in the race calendar in July and this month, this weekend’s Grand Prix of Aragón marks for the Motorcycle World Championship the returns to its usual schedule. The LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team expects midsummer conditions for the season’s round 13.
Spain's MotorLand Aragón circuit has enjoyed great popularity since its debut, particularly among riders who appreciate the track’s varied layout. With one exception, MotoGP has visited this region in the outback of the country’s eastern coastline every year since 2010. Despite the barren landscape in a somewhat remote area, Aragón has its own charm, both on and off the track.
Leading Moto2 World Championship standings, Manuel Gonzalez arrives in Aragon with a significant points advantage, as Senna Agius, who is currently third in the overall standings, remains within striking distance. In the team standings, the German outfit already holds an impressive gap of 89.5 points.
Being impressively victorious recently in the Moto3 race at Silverstone, David Almansa was in a league of his own and celebrated his second win of the season — a victory that was long overdue but had been delayed due to illness, among other things. With this win, Almansa climbed back up to third place in the overall standings. Riding alongside him, 18-year-old Spaniard David Gonzalez will once again replace injured David Muñoz.
