On track for success to Styria; Hopes for Muñoz comeback
At the season's round 15 in Austria, the entire LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP team is rooting for David Muñoz and hoping that he can make his comeback this weekend at the Red Bull Ring following his serious injury in Hungary. In addition, both teams, Moto2 and Moto3, aim to continue their streak of success.
Since its return to the World Championship calendar ten years ago, the Austrian Grand Prix has quickly become one of the most popular and beautiful events of the year. Austrian hospitality, combined with the circuit, which is nestled amid the fascinating mountain landscape of the Mur Valley in Styria, are the main reasons for this. In addition, the technically demanding layout of the Red Bull Ring ensures exciting races in all classes of the Motorcycle World Championship.
With his victory last Sunday in Misano, Moto2 points leader Manuel Gonzalez has taken a step closer to his big goal and, of course, wants to carry that momentum with him to Austria. His lead in the championship over second-placed rider Izan Guevara has grown to 47.5 points. After his bitter early retirement in Misano, teammate Senna Agius is determined to make amends. The Australian rider hopes to translate the strong pace he showed during both days of practice last weekend into a top finish in the race, in order to make up as many championship points as possible.
As of today, it’s official: Senna Agius will move up to MotoGP in 2027. The LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP team couldn’t be prouder. From the 21-year-old’s Moto2 European Championship title with our JuniorGP team back in 2023 to his development into a strong Moto2 World Championship rider, it has been an incredible journey that we’ve had the privilege of being a part of. But before Agius moves on to MotoGP, we still have eight races together and big goals ahead of us.
In addition to their enthusiasm for David Almansa, who is currently in top form and arrives in Styria on the back of three consecutive podium finishes, the Moto3 squad led by manager Peter Öttl is looking forward to welcoming David Muñoz back to the team after his long injury layoff. However, the 20-year-old Spanish rider first have to pass the obligatory medical check on Thursday before he is allowed to get back aboard his race bike on Friday. Should Muñoz, who finished third on the podium in Spielberg a year ago, declared unfit to race, David Gonzalez is ready to step in as a replacement again.
