Fourth and sixth place at the Sachsenring — LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP heads into the summer break as World Championship leader

The LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Moto2 Team heads into the summer break on a high note thanks to a strong team performance. At their home race at the Sachsenring, Senna Agius (fourth place) and Manuel Gonzalez (sixth place) secured valuable championship points. As a result, the team not only maintains its leading position in the team standings but also heads into the second half of the season with Manuel Gonzalez on top of the rider's overall classification and Senna Agius, who is third overall.

With Manuel Gonzalez starting from second on the grid and Senna Agius on the second row, the stage was set for a successful home race. The long race distance of 25 laps and track temperatures exceeding 40 degrees presented the teams with a difficult challenge. Although the decision to use the harder rear tire did not prove ideal as the race progressed, both riders managed to stay in touch with the leading group until the end and secured two top finishes.

With a fourth-place finish, Senna Agius solidified his third place in the Moto2 World Championship and remains within striking distance of the top two riders. Manuel Gonzalez impressively defended his leading position in the overall standings with a sixth-place finish and heads into the summer break with a 51,5 points advantage. At the same time, the LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP team further extended its gap on top of the team standings, confirming its strong performance this season.

After a summer break of just under three weeks, the series kicks off the second half of the season with its annual visit to Silverstone, England.

«It’s a bittersweet fourth-place finish, because I thought I had a lot more to offer in this race this weekend. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to find a setup in practice that would have worked for us today. We opted for the harder tire compound, assuming it would be significantly better in the later stages of the race. I did my best to stay in the mix and give myself the best chance to take control of the race. But on the left-hand turns, when leaning over at full angle, I didn’t have the same pace as the riders in front of me. That was a bit disappointing, because there was nothing, I could do about it, and in the end, the tire was completely shot, so I finished in fourth place. Still, it’s a fourth-place finish, and I feel that with a different tire choice today, I might actually have been able to win. We’ve once again finished in the top 5 for five races in a row and are in third place in the championship heading into the summer break. That’s a huge step forward compared to last year. A huge thank you to my crew. My guys have given 100 percent for me this year, and I can’t thank them enough for that. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the job done it in front of the German fans and at the team’s home Grand Prix. But I think I made everyone proud because I gave it my all, and that sets us up well for the second half of the season. I don't really feel like I need a summer break, because I'd love to keep going, I’m having so much fun. Still, I'm heading back to Andorra now, treating myself to a little time off, and getting ready there for the second half of the year.»

«We opted for the harder tire choice, but our strategy didn’t work out toward the end of the race, even though I tried to conserve the tires in the first half. I followed the riders in front of me. In the end, though, my tires were more worn than the others’. That’s a bit of a shame, because we worked hard all weekend again to compete for the win. Still, we’ll learn from this and keep working. There are better tracks ahead, and we’re still leading the championship by a comfortable margin. We can stay relaxed because our lead is more than two races. We can be happy that we’ve had an almost perfect start to the season. Now we need some rest before we start thinking about Silverstone. Over the next few weeks, it’s time to unwind and recharge. I’ll spend a lot of time with my family and friends before we return with the same mindset.»

«We shouldn't be unhappy with today's result. We’re heading into the summer break as the clear leaders in both the riders’ and teams’ standings. Finishing fourth and sixth is a remarkable achievement at this level of the World Championship, even though we had hoped for a bit more from today’s race. Nevertheless, both of our riders did a great job. Even when not, everything goes perfectly or 100 percent according to plan, we’re still able to achieve top results. Everyone deserves a break now, because the first half of the season was very gruelling. We’ll be back in attack mode in England. We were very competitive there last year, and of course we want to build on that. We’re looking forward to the second half of the championship with confidence. But first of all, a big thank you to the entire team. Everyone is doing a truly outstanding job.»
