David Muñoz takes nine important points by finishing seventh in Mugello
LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP’s Moto2 squad had to suffer a severe setback as early as Sunday morning, as David Almansa's health continued to deteriorate, making a start impossible. David Muñoz, meanwhile, fought in the leading group for the entire distance but had to settle for seventh place at the finish line.
20-year-old David Almansa was not at full strength throughout the entire weekend. His performance in qualifying was all the more impressive, as he secured pole position with a brilliant lap. However, by Sunday morning, his condition had deteriorated so much due to symptoms of tonsillitis that participating in the race was out of the question. The entire LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP team wishes him all the best for a speedy recovery.
David Muñoz started the seventh race of the season from seventh place on the grid, on the third row. The fast Spaniard immediately held his own in the leading group, where positions changed frequently due to the many slipstreaming duels. In a thrilling finish, where ten riders were separated by just one second, the 20-year-old from Seville took the chequered flag in seventh place.
The championship will continue immediately with the Hungarian Grand Prix next weekend.
