Heading to the «Cathedrale of Speed»: Intact GP is aiming for more top results

Following strong results in Brno, LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP’s Moto2 and Moto3 teams are heading straight to the World Championship’s annual visit to the Netherlands, where they can once again count on strong support from German fans this weekend, as the historic Assen circuit is just a stone’s throw across the border.

The Dutch Grand Prix has the longest history on the calendar. Since the early days of the Motorcycle World Championship, a Grand Prix has been held almost every year at the historic TT Circuit in Assen, in the north of the country. High average speeds at this track — which originally consisted of public roads and was later converted into a permanent racetrack — helped earn it the nickname «Cathedrale of Speed». Once known as the «Dutch TT», the event has attracted hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic fans for decades and remains one of the absolute highlights of the season to this day.

Buoyed by their success in Brno, the LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Moto2 team heads to Assen for round ten of the season. Both World Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez and Senna Agius were able to score important points in the Czech Republic. Gonzalez comes with good memories to Assen: The Spanish rider finished in third place on the podium there last year. This weekend, the clear goal is to further extend his lead in the World Championship. Teammate Agius heads to the Netherlands with plenty of confidence after an almost unbelievable performance in Brno, where he finished fourth despite losing his knee slider. The 21-year-old Australian currently sits in fourth place in the overall standings and is hot on the heels of the top three, trailing by just two points.

The Moto3 crew is also heading to Assen with a great deal of confidence. David Almansa once again demonstrated his strong form in Brno by securing pole position for the third time in a row and staying with the leading group until the finish. Finishing fourth, the Spaniard narrowly missed the podium but gained further confidence heading into the upcoming Grand Prix in the Netherlands. What’s particularly motivating is that the TT Circuit Assen is one of his favourite tracks. His teammate will once again be Marcos Uriarte, who proved to be a worthy replacement for David Muñoz in the Czech Republic and who hopes to continue his steady improvement in performance in Assen.
