Ready for a fiery flamenco in Jerez

This weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix kicks off a series of twelve races on Europe soil. The Circuito de Jerez in the south of the country is familiar territory for the Moto2 and Moto3 teams of LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP.

It’s been a while since the last Grand Prix in the United States. However, memories are still fresh in mind, as it was an extremely successful stay for the German outfit in Texas for its Moto2 team. After a previously emotionally turbulent period, Senna Agius celebrated his first victory of the season in America, catapulting himself to sixth place in the overall standings. Teammate Manuel Gonzalez reclaimed the lead in the World Championship with a fifth-place finish in the race.

Despite a nearly one month-long break, it’s safe to assume that the team’s Moto2 riders will show up in top form for the first Grand Prix in Europe. For Madrid native Gonzalez, it will also be his first home race of the year. The 23-year-old is certainly eager to put in a particularly impressive performance in front of his home crowd.

In Moto3, however, the team is both hopeful and anxious that its two regular riders, David Almansa and David Muñoz, will receive medical clearance to race this weekend on Thursday. Almansa injured his elbow in a crash during the race in Brazil. The surgery in Barcelona was successful, but he had to sit out the U.S. Grand Prix.

Muñoz missed the last two race weekends in overseas due to new complications in his recovery from an injury he sustained last October in Indonesia. For the 19-year-old from Seville, who has been through so much over the past six months, there could hardly be a better place for his comeback than this weekend, just a stone’s throw from his hometown.

Marcos Uriarte, who was most recently signed in for the U.S. race as a replacement for Almansa, will also travel to Jerez and step in for the LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team if needed.
