Spectacular double victory in Jerez

On Sunday at the Spanish Grand Prix, Senna Agius celebrated his second consecutive Victory this year. With Manuel Gonzalez rounding up the double success for LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP in second place.

April 26th, 2026, will certainly go down in the history books for the German team, as for the second time since Austin in 2019, the team’s riders finished first and second in a Moto2 race.

Buoyed by his victory in Texas a month ago, Senna Agius arrived at the Circuito de Jerez in Andalusia with renewed confidence and proved from the very first minute of practice that he remains in top form. Although the 20-year-old Australian rider had to settle for fourth on the grid after qualifying, his strong pace left him feeling confident about race day in Spain.

In the first lap, Agius moved up a spot and immediately settled in right behind the leaders: pole-setter Collin Veijer in first place and his teammate Manuel Gonzalez in second. On lap five, he snatched second place before going all in at the start of the final third of the distance, taking the lead in the fourth race of the season and never relinquishing it.

Manuel Gonzalez once again demonstrated in Jerez why he is one of the most consistent riders in Moto2 World Championship: despite a difficult weekend, he delivered an extremely mature performance on Sunday. With smart race management, adjustments to his riding style, and strong stamina, he secured a well-deserved second place — his third podium finish in just four races. Gonzalez earned crucial points, further extended his lead in the championship, and, together with his teammate, underlined the strength of the entire team.

Today's spectacular one-two finish had a particularly positive impact on the LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team’s overall ranking in both the riders’ and team championships: The team extended its lead in the team standings and now tops the riders’ standings with both riders on top. Agius’s comeback is particularly noteworthy; after two zero-point rounds in Thailand and Brazil and two victories, he has catapulted himself to second place overall in the blink of an eye.

The championship will continue in two weeks with the French Grand Prix at the historic Le Mans circuit.

Moto2 World Championship 2026: P2 - 50 Points

«Celebrating two wins in a row has always been my dream for me being a World Championship rider. Of course, you have to get that first win first, but winning two races in a row after a few victories is a huge goal of mine. I’m super proud right now. As for the race, it was tough because I was so strong at the start. I was firmly convinced that if I’d been able to pass in the first few laps and would have had a bit more speed on the straights, I could have set my own pace at the front, since I had a much better pace. But I was at the limit with my front tyre. So I was at my limit, just held my position, and tried not to lose any time. I couldn’t attack. Then I saw how the others were struggling, while I gradually realized where my strengths lie. Towards the end, I pushed hard one last time to win the race. That said, it was definitely not an easy race for me in terms of the front tyre. But I’m so proud of the work we’ve done here once again. A huge thank you to Jürgen and the entire Intact GP team for their support. That also goes to my crew, including my crew chief and data technician, as well as everyone involved in this project. Things are going fantastically for us right now, and we’ll continue to give it our all to fight for this championship. But first, it’s back to training, keeping our feet on the ground, and heading to Le Mans with a strong mindset.»

«I’m satisfied because, in the end, we achieved our goal of finishing on the podium. After four races, we now have three podium finishes to our credit. So, we can be satisfied, because at Jerez we had a weekend where we struggled a bit more than expected. The grip was incredibly high, but we couldn’t use it as well as our competitors. So, we worked on improving, and I also adjusted my riding style in the corners where I was having trouble. Toward the end of the race, I gave it everything I had, even though it’s a bit of a shame that I couldn’t fight until the very last corner. In the final laps, however, it was a bit risky to push to the limit. So, I said to myself: Let’s do what we can. Second place is a very positive result after a weekend like this. We’ve scored important points and extended our lead in the championship. Senna was super strong this weekend, so congratulations to him on winning today. It’s nice to see my teammate performing so strongly since the last races. We, on the other hand, will keep working and continue to improve on those small details. But I’m confident that better tracks are coming up for me, where we can fight for the win. Thanks to the entire team — the work was perfect again. We’ll keep pushing and are looking forward to Le Mans.»

«Jerez was an incredible Weekend for us. First of all, I’d like to congratulate our Moto3 team. A comeback like this, following injuries to both riders, is of course a huge relief for everyone. They’ve been through a long and tough period during which they had to do without their two regular riders. So, they truly deserve these results. David Muñoz’s performance in particular — finishing third in the race — is simply outstanding. I believe both will be in even better shape in Le Mans. We can look forward to seeing what the two Davids will show us there. For now, we’ll have to be content with the fact that both are back in action.»

«But Moto2 was even more incredible. We could already see in Austin that we’d taken a step forward. But today’s one-two finish was the icing on the cake, even though Senna had already shown an incredibly strong pace on Friday and set a new all-time record. Manu was just as consistent, even though he doesn’t feel 100 percent comfortable with the new bike yet. In the race, however, both of them more than impressively confirmed what they’re capable of. It was super-fast competition and therefore incredibly tough, but Senna and Manu held on until the end. Senna had a bit more to offer and won very deservedly. That has to be said quite clearly, while Manu managed his race very well and handled everything superbly. That was truly a very strong performance from him. I’m absolutely thrilled for the entire team, because here in Jerez — where everyone has been so many times and did countless laps — everything really has to come together for a result like this to happen. Congratulations not only to the riders, but to the entire team. That was a masterclass act. Still, we have to keep our feet on the ground and realize that in Le Mans, everything starts all over again. We’ve all been around long enough to know that success isn’t a given.»
