Heading from the Sachsenring to the TT in Assen with boosted confidence
Buoyed by the euphoria of his home success, Marcel Schrötter of the LIQUI MOLY Intact GP Team is aiming for at least another top 5 result after P4 at the Sachsenring, whereas Jeremy Alcoba is hoping to get back to the feeling he had at the start of the season.
It was only a few days ago that Marcel Schrötter experienced one of his best career moments at his home race at the Sachsenring. Almost 100,000 fans hoped and cheered for the 29-year-old as he proved his fighting spirit in the battle for second and third place until the bitter end. Even if it was not enough for one of the last two podium spots, the Moto2 rider has tasted blood and hopes to be able to compete for the podium again this weekend in Assen in the Netherlands. Especially as the Assen TT is always a magnet for German fans. Last year, the sympathetic Bavarian finished the race in ninth place, but in 2022 he certainly wants more after his recent upward trend.
Team-mate Jeremy Alcoba is just as eager to achieve top results again, after visibly struggling with his Kalex lately. But the young Spaniard will not be discouraged that quickly, after all, he proved more than impressively at the beginning of the season with six point winning races in the first seven rounds that he can take on the closely contested Moto2 field. And he also finished in the top 10 in the 2021 Moto3 race and even holds the lightweight class lap record there. Will he find the necessary feeling in Assen to be back in the points at the eleventh round of the season?
The first prediction for the last race weekend before the summer break will be possible after FP1 of Moto2, which will be held on Friday at 10:55 am (CEST) at the traditional TT Circuit Assen.
