Intact GP scores important points in Misano – Final round in Portimão promises excitement

The San Marino Grand Prix at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli brought valuable points and plenty of excitement for the Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE Team with Hector Garzo and Lorenzo Baldassarri. Local hero Baldassarri thrilled Italian fans with a tenth and a strong sixth place in his home race. Garzo initially showed solid pace with eighth place before unfortunately crashing in the second race. Now all eyes are on the big MotoE finale in Portimão, where the World Championship will be decided.

This penultimate race of the season had special significance: on the one hand, it was Lorenzo Baldassarri's home race, and on the other, the Italian was looking to extend his newly gained championship lead. But in such a close championship, the unpredictable often thwarts plans and ambitions. Starting from 13th on the grid, the 28-year-old made up several positions in both races and consistently fought in the top 10. Tenth place in the first race and sixth place in the second meant that he lost the lead in the standings, but with a 12-point gap, everything is still open for the finale in Portimao at the beginning of November.

Hector Garzo fought with heart and passion to catch up with the leaders in the first race, but a near-collision on the final lap threw him back from fifth to eighth place. In the second race, the position-intensive duels in the field intensified further. On the narrow track with few overtaking opportunities, the attacks changed almost every second. Garzo was already in a promising fourth place when his front slipped in turn 14, abruptly dashing his podium hopes.

Now the German Intact GP MotoE team faces a long break before the big season finale in Portimão from the 7th and 8th of November. For the Intact GP team, Portugal will also be a sad weekend, as Portimao will be the final chapter of the all-electric world championship for the time being, following this week's announcement that MotoE will be discontinued after 2025.
