Schrötter & Alcoba give positive feedback on Day 1 at Silverstone
Switching back into race mode after a five-week summer break was not difficult for LIQUI MOLY Intact GP riders Marcel Schrötter and Jeremy Alcoba as they kicked off the second half of the season at Silverstone in the UK in P10 and P24 respectively.
Thanks to his years of experience, German Marcel Schrötter first took the time to thoughtfully use FP1 to build up a solid feeling for his Kalex again before going on the hunt for times with a new set of tyres. His 2'05.590 from FP2 is currently 1.017s behind Friday pacesetter Augusto Fernandez. However, with position 10, the 29-year-old is within the highly coveted Q2 places. In-depth analysis should now help to confirm this position beyond FP3 on Saturday morning, in order to then be able to fight for the first rows of the grid in the afternoon.
Even if youngster Jeremy Alcoba's 24th place is not yet the result the young Spaniard is striving for, he is aware that it was a thoroughly solid performance after the long Moto2 break. Especially, because of what you don't see from the standings: Alcoba contested the entire Friday on used tyres and still managed to pick up the feeling from the last races before the summer break. What else does the 20-year-old have up his sleeve for FP3 when he gets back to the track on a new set of tyres for the first time this twelfth race weekend?
