Schrötter & Alcoba want to fight for important points in the Styrian mountains

From 19th - 21st of August, the idyllic Styrian mountains where the Red Bull Ring is located will turn into a boiling pot for three action-packed days of racing, as the 13th of a total of 20 Grand Prix races this year is scheduled for this weekend in Spielberg. Meanwhile, the LIQUI MOLY Intact GP duo of Marcel Schrötter and Jeremy Alcoba are looking forward to exploring the new, unknown chicane following Turn 1.

For the Bavarian racer Marcel Schrötter, the Austrian Grand Prix always feels like a second home race, not least because thousands of German fans make their way to Styria every year to support the German with full fervor. But the popular 4.3 km Red Bull Ring, where the MotoGP has been back since 2016, has a surprise in store for this year's showdown. A new chicane has been added behind the first corner in recent months to mitigate the high-speed sprint up to Turn 3 and thus provide more safety.
After his crash at Silverstone a fortnight ago, 29-year-old Schrötter is eager to put on a similar show for his fans as he did at his home race at the Sachsenring in mid-June, where he was denied the podium after a fierce battle for the win and the podium. Celebrated like a hero back then - can he strike back with a podium in front of his fans this time?

Rookie Jeremy Alcoba is also eager to check out the new section of the track and how the change will affect the handling of the Kalex, although the 20-year-old only knows the Austrian track from his Moto3 days. In 2021, the Spaniard even managed to score points in the second race, a goal that the success-hungry Alcoba is also aiming for again in the upcoming 25-lap race on Sunday at 12:20 (CEST) after he also finished in the points in Great Britain two weeks ago.
