Aegerter secures his 2nd Austrian podium with P3 at the last second

In comparison, the Austrian Grand Prix was not an easy weekend for Dominique Aegerter, but the Swiss rider still has two podiums to his name after finishing third in Sunday's second race of this penultimate round of 2022.

The feeling on his Energica Ego Corsa was good throughout the weekend, but Dominique Aegerter was still a few tenths short of his usual dominance. However, the experienced Swiss would not be Cup leader if he could not still get the best out of supposedly difficult and tricky races.
In the second race at the Red Bull Ring, the 31-year-old got off to a good start, but a small collision between him and Hector Garzo immediately wiped out any advantage. As on Saturday, he had to make up ground in the shortest possible time in order to catch up with the leading group. Fortunately, their heated attacks soon led to a five-headed fight for the podium.

The Dynavolt Intact GP rider kept himself in the race with courageous maneuvers, but the rider from Rohrbach in Switzerland took his third place in the final metres after a close head-to-head battle developed at the front. A further 16 Cup points do not extend Aegerter's lead over race winner and biggest title challenger Eric Granado, but a 17.5 points lead is more than enough to go into the final two show-downs at the Misano World Circuit - Marco Simoncelli, where the title will be decided in a fortnight' time, as clear favourites.

Can Dominique Aegerter manage to be crowned MotoE World Cup winner at his third attempt?
