Balaton Park Circuit – From Italy straight to Hungary
Things are happening thick and fast at the Moment in this year's Motorcycle World Championship. Consequently, the in-form Moto2 and Moto3 teams of LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP have the next opportunity this weekend in Hungary to continue their impressive run of success.
The Balaton Park Circuit, not far from the eastern shore of the steppe lake of the same name in the western part of the country, only had its baptism of fire as an international race track just under a year ago. Following its trial by fire during the Superbike World Championship round at the end of July, the first Grand Prix of Hungary in over 30 years took place just a few weeks later.
With two magnificent consecutive victories, Manuel Gonzalez heads to Hungary with a healthy cushion as Moto2 World Championship leader. His stellar performances in the races in Barcelona and last Sunday in Mugello, Italy, have given the entire team an incredible boost, as confirmed by Senna Agius's fourth place at the Tuscany track. The 20-year-old Australian was unable to take part in the Hungarian GP last year due to injury, but he is already familiar with the twisty and narrow circuit from a private test last summer. Gonzalez, on the other hand, stood on the podium in third place at the premiere last August.
David Almansa, for whom the Italian Grand Prix ended so unfortunately early last weekend after he was unable to start on Sunday due to tonsillitis, clinching pole position on the previous day, hopes to be healthy again in time for the upcoming weekend. He finished seventh in last year's race in Hungary. Meanwhile, teammate David Muñoz, seventh in Mugello after a strong performance in the race, is increasingly returning to his old strength following his serious leg injury. Having finished third at the premiere of the motorcycle world championship at the Balaton Park Circuit last year, the 20-year-old Spaniard can be expected to perform well again this weekend.
